“All Children, except one, grow up.”
And that,of course, would be Peter Pan. As for the rest of us, the ever-increasing intrusions of the world on our minds seem to frighten that little child inside us into full-blown retreat.
As we progress up the ladder of maturity most of us lose what I feel is a very important concept: the ability to retain and possess a childlike quality to explore other possibilities. We lose the curiosity and forget about the world that leads us to ask those crucial questions, "Why?" and "Why Not?”. Our pure and trusting imagination is martyred to adulthood which forces us to stop asking those wonderfully creative questions and we fall prey to the urges of earning money and more money and even more money .
Unfortunately, our creativity is not the only thing we sacrifice at the alter of adulthood. Most of us have forsaken wondrous childlike qualities like unconditional love, trust, playfulness and simplicity. And what have we acquired instead?.. Fear, mistrust, prejudices, doubts, greed, ego and selfishness! Quite a costly trade-off, I must say!!
But “ChildLIKE” is not to be confused with “ChildISH”. There's a difference between both. Childlike means a balance of maturity and innocence whereas childish means completely ignorant of the world around. David B. Bohl says," The three things I think of as being very childish are whining, holding a grudge, and blaming. By whining, I mean complaining about something without making any effort to do anything about it. Just complaining for the sake of complaining. Holding a grudge is obviously staying mad at someone, long after a reasonable person would have let it go already, and blaming is refusing to take responsibility for your own part in a problem, and insisting that everything must be the other guy’s fault. Sometimes it is, but very rarely. Those behaviours are childish, but they’re easy to fall into because they’re comfortable. They’re easier than recognizing and taking responsibility for our part in whatever’s happening."
And I admit I can be very childish at times. But I prefer myself when I’m being childlike. I define this as having fun, expressing wonder at the world, and taking every opportunity to experience something new. Even to explore childlike behaviour one day at adventure island or on swings in local park is not a bad deal.
Also showing one's excitement on new found things or surroundings is very normal. So, next time don't hide away in your shell like hermit crab rather shout and celebrate your excitements and joys with others and the world, like if you see a beach with clear blue water just shout and jump into it. Also, try crying like a child once when you are disheartened, you'll feel so light afterwards and all your tensions will fly away in a flee of a minute. Trust me...!!
I have tried it on more than several occasions... lols..(refer to Jab we met also)
Childlike ways are best ways to overcome all kind of frustrations in life and helps one to hug life with a new hope and a new zeal. Each day will come as a bliss and excitement of what new mischievous act we can enter into. Don't stop playing pranks on your friends and acquaintances. Have you forgotten, how much fun it was to push a friend into a pool or stick chewing gum under a college mate's seat. Don't forget to live life!!
Young children have a refreshing honesty about them, and they divert their energy to new things that excite them. To be more creative, you need to recapture some of the behaviour of your childhood. We need to remember how solving problems is about creativity and how creativity is driven by your ability to imagine new ideas.
We should also avoid moral policing our children. Let them grow in a very natural and beautiful way. Why hinder with their playfulness in an effort to make them disciplined. I won't deny that discipline is also an important ingredient of successful life but their are also ways and time to teach them. We must "Relive" our childhood with our kids or kids around us. It has been scientifically proven that a child's pure and innocent touch acts as a therapy to overcome depression and frustrations of all kind. So, don't be afraid to wear your sneakers and run and race around with the kiddies in park next morning or rolling down from the elevated green areas in the garden. The sense of pleasure is much more important and sweeter than the discipline and maturity in life. The dirtier you get more glowing your skin will grow, devoid of wrinkles as well. ;)
Be a child forever and don't loose that essence because it's our primal instinct. Be a child, live like a child and have a child ( cud b children also, as per convenience ) hahaha... ;) :P
